Cottonwood Creek Behavioral Hospital

The interior remodel of the 60,077 SF Cottonwood Creek Behavioral Hospital was a profoundly purposeful undertaking, transforming a former private hospital into a specialized sanctuary for acute psychiatric and substance abuse care. This extensive project required a meticulous and sensitive approach to redesign the entire facility, encompassing both inpatient and outpatient wings to create a seamless continuum of care. The challenge and success of the renovation lay in reconfiguring the existing structure to meet the stringent safety, security, and therapeutic needs of a behavioral health facility, all while moving beyond an institutional feel to foster an atmosphere of dignity and calm.

Every design decision was intentional, focusing on creating a safe, comfortable, and nurturing environment conducive to hope and healing. The new interiors are thoughtfully laid out to include 72 private patient beds, dedicated group therapy rooms for counseling and community building, and strategically positioned nurse stations to ensure both oversight and accessibility. The main lobby, dining, and social areas were specifically designed to be warm and welcoming, utilizing soothing color palettes, ample natural light, and durable yet comfortable furnishings. This careful planning creates a therapeutic milieu that supports patient recovery, providing a serene and dignified space where individuals can focus on their journey toward wellness.
