Oregon State University Innovation Complex

The Oregon State University Innovation Complex is a groundbreaking 3-story, 150,000 SF facility designed to be a beacon of collaborative discovery. It will house one of the nation's most powerful supercomputers, serving as the engine for a dynamic, team-based transdisciplinary research and teaching center. The building itself is a testament to its mission, innovating through its structure as the first mass timber laboratory building on the West Coast. This commitment to sustainability is further advanced by an exterior of electrochromic glass, a key component in the university's pursuit of net-zero carbon emissions. This creative-driven facility is purpose-built to empower faculty and students to tackle critical global challenges in climate science, oceanography, sustainability, and water resources.

Additional highlights of the complex include a maker space providing student access to innovation tools for hands-on learning, and a cyber-physical playground for human interaction with next-generation robotics. An extended reality theater will combine high-resolution motion-capture and augmented reality to enable digital simulations, from portraying the human body to advance wellness to demonstrating the operation of complex machines like drones. Furthermore, specialized laboratories will link research with full field deployment to critically address water resources and the global availability of clean water.
